A January Gin Tasting Session
You may have noticed we love drinking gin (shocker) but one of our favourite things is trying new gins with our lovely gin club members. At the end of 2016 we sadly had to say goodbye to our regular monthly gin club at Mandia in Stratford as the restaurant was sold, however we have found a fantastic new gin tasting venue in 33 The Scullery.
Monday 23rd January was our first night of gin at The Scullery, as well as being our first gin club of 2017 and it certainly felt like it was about time! With a new venue we thought we would try a new format to our gin tasting evening and it went down a storm. A welcome cocktail followed by a tasting sequence of 4 artisan gins, accompanied by tasty plates from The Scullery – winning combo. As this was the week of Burn’s Night we went all Scottish and chose 4 delicious Scottish gins for our gin clubbers to try. Narrowing down the selection to just 4 was a tricky task indeed – with 70% of UK gin produced in Scotland there is a fantastic selection to choose from. However, the selection was very well received – with Arbikies Kirsty’s Gin, Rock Rose, Persie’s Sweet & Nutty Old Tom and Strathearn Heather Rose Gin. It would be hard to choose a favourite, but we do have a bit of a sweet spot for Rock Rose Gin, Fever Tree Tonic and an Orange & Rosemary garnish!
After each gin was served, a tasty treat was brought out by The Scullery and included gin cured trout, rare beef and even mini chocolate puddings. We had a fantastic evening – thank you to all that came out to join us on a cold January night! We have just confirmed some new dates for future gin tasting nights at The Scullery and these are now available to book on our website. Be sure to book your ticket so you don’t miss out!
We can’t wait for the next one 🙂
